LIVING IN THE PAST episode 2

After much deliberation, Gregor decided to attend the party. He asked Oliver to accompany him which Oliver did. He went to the party ahead of time in other to speak with Emily before the party officially starts. Emily sighted Gregor from afar. She became angry and walked up to him. She said, "You again? Can't you see that you are not welcomed here? Can't you see that you irritate me? Look, you are too low to be my friend. Please leave." Gregor was very furious at her. He asked, "Who do you think you are to talk to me like that?" As if I'm a goat!" "I am Emily Charles," replied Emily. "The daughter of a well known and respected Judge in this country. And you?" "I am Gregor Leonard," answered Gregor. "Although I am not from a wealthy background like you, I am from a disciplined, respectful and mannered home. But you are nothing but a spoilt egg. Beautiful but mannerless." After saying this, Gregor left with Oliver in anger. Emily felt so embarrassed and ashamed of herself. After the party, Emily went to bed thinking of Gregor's words. She realized that truly, she has been acting mannerless. She decided she would talk to Gregor when next they meet and ask for pardon. Oliver tried to calm Gregor down but he made up his mind never to speak to Emily again.

The next day Emily approached Gregor after classes and asked for forgiveness but Gregor had no interest in listening to her. This went on for some days. Then Gregor asked her, "Where have you been and who is chasing you?"  Surprisingly Emily asked, "Didn't Pretty tell you? I sent her to you." "No she didn't," replied Gregor. "Strange," exclaimed Emily. "Well I was under house arrest. Not by the police but by Alex. I just escaped from the house." She paused, caught her breath and continued. "Please Gregor," she said. "I don't want to go back to that house. Otherwise in two weeks time, my father will sell me off to Alex in the name of marriage." "And I wouldn't let you go back there either,"...

Gregor had tears in his eyes as he tried to speak up. He's hands were a bit sweaty and shaky. Then he said, "My friend, I found out yesterday that Emily is getting married in 4 months or less." "What!!!" Oliver exclaimed. "How is it possible that Emily, a girl of 18 years old, is getting married?" "I don't know," replied Gregor. "I haven't spoken to her about it since then." "You have to talk to her," advised Oliver. "Or you could end up judging her without knowing the true story behind it. I know you love her. That is why you feel that way. But you have...
